Corporate Events

Solo or in partnership with bestselling poet Nikita Gill, I am available to speak in person or online for corporate events on topics including how to enjoy poetry, poetry for mental health, the hidden history of women’s writing and writing as activism.

“In celebration of Women's History Month, at Papa John's International, we were honored to feature Ana Sampson, a thought leader in representing the major poetic works of Women throughout history. We were excited that Ana was willing to play a role in the intentional conversations that our company is driving around the workplace equity and belonging for ALL of our employees! Ana provided us with some great poetry from Emily Dickinson to Amanda Gorman; that pointed out how mighty the pen can be; and how poetry can build hope and unity.” – Calvin Pegus, Papa John’s International

The Hidden History of Women’s Writing

My illustrated talk can be tailored to your time slot and audience. It looks at the reasons why more women didn’t write, publish or make it into the ‘greatest hits’ of English Literature in previous centuries, and tells little-known stories of amazing women who bucked this trend. I can also deliver the talk online.

I include fiction writers as well as poets, with examples from the Brontës, who initially published under male pseudonyms, to today’s literary superstars. I also cover poets including Sappho, civil rights activists Frances Harper, 18th Century kitchen-maid Mary Leapor and contemporary poets such as Hollie McNish and Amanda Gorman.

I close with the good news that we can all contribute to building a broader canon for the future, and include poetry readings during the talk. I am always delighted to take questions and lead related discussions.
